Talk on the Tyne 8th June 2017 7-late
Following a warm invitation from Martin Bailey of Animate2Educate, three of the CESI tribe flew to Newcastle, where everyone speaks like Martin! Initially rainy, the sun did appear showing the city and the river Tyne in all their glory. At 7.00 on a Thursday evening (school night) a large group gathered in a wonderful riverside location – the BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art for Talk on the Tyne 2017. There was excitement in the air as twenty eight presenters waited their turn along with Russell Prue who delivered a wonderful keynote. See —magsamondposts for a list of presenters and twitter handles. A large digital countdown clock was on one screen with instructions to the attendees to start clapping once the alotted time was up. Wonderfully polite until that particular data projector died! At one point two people from each table were given ear phones (make sure to scroll down on mags post!) with a story being played and the instruction to act out what they were hearing. The rest of the audience had to try and interpret the story from the actions. Hilarious! One presenter even donned a psychadelic tutu skirt! Tech on the Tyne 9th June 2017 8.45-3.30
Breakfast on the terrace overlooking the Tyne among the attendees is a great way to start any conference day. This was complimented by the people at the different stands, knowledgeably and enthusiastically explaining the different products. Check out the speakers below The breadth and range were excellent and as with all these events it would be great to ‘replay’ one at a time to absorb the ideas and decide which one to tackle first in one’s own practice.
