Teaching Programming through creativity

Noel joined the CoderDojo movement 4.5 years ago and with the arrival of the programming short course, the presentation will outline the pedagogies Noel used to deliver a multi-facet skills approach. With a focus on creativity and output, instead of computer languages will deliver amazing outcomes. This approach has encompassed language theory to drone hacking and amazing projects/outcomes have been created on the back of it.

Presenter Biography:

Noel is VP for Engineering at VSWare an Irish Software company that provides a cloud based School Administration System. He has led and developed software solutions across multiple sectors and is focused on driving excellence through team-orientated development utilising the best industry standards. Passionate about education and inspiring the next generation he helped setup the second CoderDojo in August 2011 and is also one of the creators of the CoderDojo Girls initiative to increase girl participation in coding. He is an active content participant and has written over 10 course for CoderDojo. He is co-founder and organiser of the Coolest Projects which is a creativity lead awards that takes place annually with over 500 international projects presented to 5,000 attendees.
