Outer Space inside the Classroom

Presented by: Paudie Scanlon

Using freely available data from a satellite orbiting the sun we will calculate the rotational speed of the sun. This is done using trigonometry and coordinate geometry from higher level junior cert maths. We will also touch on how to use the satellite data to examine inverse relationships, patterns as well as look at booking time on earth based telescopes.
