Mapping Google’s CSFirst Curriculum to the Irish Curriculum – Primary, JC Coding & DML and LCCS specifications.

Presented by: Miriam Bergin, Conor Power, & Pat Butler.

A group of teachers mapped the Google CS First curriculum to the Irish primary and post-primary curriculum, specifically to Primary Mathematics, Junior Cycle (Coding and Digital Media Literacy) and Senior Cycle (Computer Science) specifications. The CS First curriculum was mapped to the respective specifications, aligning the learning outcomes and strands – thereby making the CS First curriculum accessible and relevant to teachers in Ireland and easily integrated into a wide range of classrooms.

Developed by teachers for teachers, this presentation presents Google’s CS First curriculum, making it accessible and relevant to teachers at primary and post-primary level.

Our project is distinctive as a number of different stakeholders were involved, under the guidance of NUI Galway and LERO this project was supported by Google . The mapping was carried out by 5 teachers, 1 primary and 4 post primary teachers. Based on teacher experience each mapped the CS First curriculum to the Junior Cycle and Senior Cycle subjects, therefore making the product accessible and usable for teachers.
