Malahide Community School is a very technically enriched learning environment. The challenge was to provide to support and maintain the technology with limited people power. The solution was to harness the technical skills, curiosity and enthusiasm of the students into a tech support team. The team is in its second year of existence and has been a great success for both the school and its members. The iTeam is recruited from student in the TY program and they take responsibility for providing first response tech support and sever as digital media reporters for events in the school.
Presenter Biography:
Frieda Crehan works as ICT coordinator in Malahide Community School and for the Junior Cycle for teachers as a Whole School Associate. In her role as ICT coordinator she has led the school on a technology enhanced learning strategy, adopting a 1:1 device approach (iPads) and an integrated learning management system (Schoology) over the past 5 years. Qualified from Mater Dei Institute of Education as a teacher of History and Religion in 1995, completed a Masters in Technology Enhanced Learning at Trinity College in 2010. Mother of two teenage children.
