iScoil takes a close look at the benefits and opportunities of using ICT for engaging young early school leavers with complex needs in different contexts. The case study presented analyses two students and their online learning journey with iScoil. The presentation shows how technology supports students to achieve positive learning outcomes through a flexible and individualised approach.
Presenter Biography:
Brian Fitzsimons (BComm, MSc.) has 15 years experience working in the Education Sector. He engages primarily with at-risk young people, both in his current role as an education coordinator, and previous roles in teaching, youth work and drug prevention and education. Brian lived and worked in Asia for five years, and speaks Japanese. He is a graduate of Commerce (UCD), and has a MSc. in Education and Leadership (DCU). His current role involves managing Blended Learning at iScoil. He is passionate about providing equal opportunities to society’s most marginalised and vulnerable young people.
Stephen Leonard is a learning technologist who works for the educational charity, iScoil. He has a background in multimedia and web design and is currently doing an MSc in Technology and Learning at Trinity College Dublin.
