From Data to Decisions: empowering primary learners navigate digital futures through data and media literacy

This is a short presentation (20 mins): How can we equip young learners with data and media literacy skills to navigate digital spaces critically? Drawing on insights from Oide’s Digital Citizenship Champions initiative and the DALI4US project, this session explores practical approaches that enable primary students to interpret data, assess media, and make informed decisions.

Presenter Biography:

Catherine Mangan is a Professional Learning Leader with Oide and supports primary school leaders and teachers to embed digital technologies effectively across the curriculum.

Siobhán McAndrew is the Oide Senior Leader for Digital Technologies (Primary). In this role she leads and coordinates a range of innovative professional learning events together with the provision of school support for school leaders and teachers aimed at enhancing their digital skills and knowledge. Her team’s focus is on enhancing pupils’ learning experiences and outcomes through the effective use of digital tools and advancing digital literacy in Irish Primary schools.
