Empowering Students for Digital Activism as Gaeilge: WikiWomen Erasmus+ Project

Presented by: Sophie Fitzpatrick & Amy O'Riordan

This is a workshop (45 min): This session will introduce teachers and participants to the Wiki Women Erasmus+ Toolkits and lesson plans that are freely accessible to all. It will introduce the project and demonstrate how it has been successfully piloted in three minority language communities, namely, Ireland, The Basque Country and Friesland.
Then participants will have their chance to do some hands-on bilingual editing on Wikipedia or the Irish language Wikipedia (Vicipéid). With demonstrations on how to use the world’s biggest digital encyclopedia and see how easy it is to teach these vital skills to students and also help to close the gender gap in information at the same time!

The facilitators ask that you create a Wikipedia account ahead of this session if you do not have one already. You can select the ‘request account’ option input your username and email. If you already have a Wikipedia account, you can simply join the session by logging in via the link.
