While some might claim claim that studying online could be a poorer educational experience than attending a campus for a young secondary school graduate, some may prefer this for reasons such as cost, disability, personality or existing personal commitments. For this reason, the Centre for Online Learning in IT Sligo is developing online degree programmes specifically for younger learners. This presentation will outline the rationale for developing these programmes and the particular supports that are being planned to maximise their chances of success.

Presenter Biography:
Brian Mulligan, a Civil Engineer with a background in programming and simulation, has lectured in IT Sligo since 1984 and has been instrumental in the massive growth of online distance learning in the institute since 2002. He is now responsible for Online Learning Innovation.
