This BlockW Workshop will introduce blockchain technology in an interesting and participative format that demonstrates its impact and potential across industries. Irish Modern Dance Theatre and Origin Chain Networks are collaborating to forge an engaging illustration of some of the key concepts of this technology using dance performance.
Presenter Biography:
BlockW is a female-led association whose mission is to create awareness and foster inclusivity around Blockchain Technology and emerging technologies. Founders include Joyce O’Connor, Emma Walker, Paula Kelleher, and Niamh O’Connell.
Fiona Delaney

Origin Chain Networks is a tech-enterprise advancing transparency in the agro-food supply chain. Our traceability services bring digital assurance to the food value chain enhancing trust in complex supply environments.
Origin Chain Networks supports technical innovation in the arts and instigated in May 2019 the ‘Tracing the Steps Enquiry’ which explores the role of distributed technologies in the creative and production-related activities of professional dance.
Fiona is a national representative on global standardization bodies ITU, UNECE, CEN/CENELEC and ISO where she holds the Technical Lead role in the TC 307 Use Case Lab. She is Chair of Ad Hoc study group analysing blockchain supporting SDG attainment for UN CEFACT.
John Scott
John Scott, Dublin born, apprenticed and danced with Dublin City Ballet in works by Sir Anton Dolin and Anna Sokolow. He also studied choreographic composition with Susan Buirge. He founded Irish Modern Dance Theatre in 1991. John is also one of the subjects of Sadlers Wells’ 52 Portraits with Jonathan Burrows, Matteo Fargin and Hugo Glendinning. He is founder of ‘Dancer from the Dance’ festival of Irish choreography in New York and Dublin. He performs in Oona Doherty’s ‘Hard To Be Soft’ and has also performed in Meredith Monk’s Quarry (Spoleto Festival) and for Yoshiko Chuma, Sarah Rudner, Anna Sokolow and Thomas Lehmen. He has taught dance and choreography Irish World Academy, University of Limerick, The Body in Performance, Drama Department, UCD, Drama Department NUIG, Drexel University, Philidelphia, University of Colorado at Boulder, USA and San Jose State University, CA, USA. He was a founding board member of Dublin Dance Festival and Dance Ireland.
