Webwise will present an overview its new Junior Cycle Digital Media Literacy Education Programme; Connected. The resource addresses emerging areas and themes within digital technology and media including big data, misinformation, online well-being and privacy.
The programme moves through five Modules which interlink with one another, providing opportunities for students to reflect on their own digital and social practices, their interactions with others and their communities and schools. Connected also provides students and educators with opportunities to engage in different digital technologies while exploring each module.
The session will introduce the resource, highlight best-practice and explore supporting resource materials.
Presenter Biography:
Webwise is the Irish Internet Safety Awareness Centre which is co-funded by the Department of Education and Skills and is co-financed by the European Union’s Connecting Europe Facility. Webwise is part of the PDST Technology in Education, which promotes and supports the integration of Digital Technology in teaching and learning in first and second level schools.
Webwise promotes the autonomous, effective, and safer use of the internet by young people.
