A 21st century’s digital School’s story on the BeeBot Application: Teaching programming, emotional social language development in a Primary school

Story – Based on my own Masters research on the BeeBot application on the iPad as well as working with BeeBot robots to implement a programming literacy curriculum. Such a programme is now integrated into the whole school curriculum and focus on oral language in terms of directional, instructional, social and emotive language and problem solving and programming skills with infants to develop as the school develops. Presentation would focus on how to integrate digital literacy in the school curriculum, develop teacher methodologies, classroom planning for such and the results of such in our school – Improvement in pre and post study.

Presenter Biography:

Nichola is Principal of a newly established community national school and is heavily involved in IT in Education. Masters completed in ICT in Ed from Mary Immaculate, and currently embarking on PhD in Finland. Set up Scoil Oscair CNS Lucan, Co. Dublin as a digital school with 1:1 iPad deployment and focus on individual learning techniques using IT throughout the entire curriculum.
