"The use of Asynchronous Communications (eg Discussion Forum) in our Masters course - The MSc IT in Education at Trinity College, Dublin." During this presentation, we will look at how we foster the learning community and enable the students to develop not only their own knowledge but also support each other through Computer Mediated Communication. The presentation will also refer to the higher-level information age skills involved in such asynchronous communications and the experience of tutor e-moderating for the development of these skills. A model for the promotion of successful asynchronous communication for learning will be discussed vis-à-vis the experience of the tutor and the students. The MSc IT in Education was launched in 1999 with the aim of producing a cohort of people who would be able to play a leadership role in the development and use of information and communication technologies (ICTs) in all aspects of learning.
