Storytelling Alice is a software program that uses computer programming as a means to tell a story.  It uses a drag and drop interface to allow the user to create a simple animated 3D movies.  Originally designed to motivate middle school girls (12-14) to learn to program computers, it is a free and open source object oriented educational programming language.

This presentation intends to address the following:

• A reflection of this teachers experience using Storytelling Alice with a 1st year computer studies class.
• A guided tour of the Alice interface including the creation of an animation.
• Suggestions for how Storytelling Alice might be used to enhance the learning experience within other subject areas.
