Ready for ACTION!
ACTION (Assessment, Curriculum and Teaching Innovation On the Net), www.action.ncca.ie, is an initiative by the NCCA (National Council for Curriculum and Assessment).
There are currently three projects on ACTION:
- Assessment for Learning (AfL)
- English as an Additional Language (EAL)
- ICT Framework (ICT FW)
The site is designed to show rather than to tell, the 'how to' of teaching and learning through media like video, photograph, text and audio. Each of the projects span from primary through to 3rd year in post-primary school.
Kathryn Crowley has been a primary teacher for many years. She worked as Professional Development Official with INTO for three years, co-ordinating the design and delivery of ICT courses for teachers. Before she began working in the NCCA in September 2008, she was principal in St. Louise's Junior School in Ballyfermot.
Katrina Keogh is an education officer with the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NCCA). Her areas of work at NCCA including the Mobile-Assisted Language Learning Project, ACTION website, English as an additional language, modern languages at primary level and Primary Curriculum Review. Katrina has a B.Sc. in Applied Computational Linguistics and taught German at primary level for over five years. She is currently completing her Ph.D. thesis in the area of Intelligent Computer-Assisted Language Learning.
