Digital Schools Award Update
The Digital Schools Awards Initiative was launched by Minister Mary Hannifin, T.D. in 2006. During the first phase of the initiative, thirty-nine schools have been awarded Digital Schools status. The Digital Schools Award is led by the NCTE but has the full support of the INTO, NCCA, IPPN and CESI. Following a very successful pilot launch, the NCTE is now offering all primary schools the opportunity to become Digital Schools. This presentation touches on the reasons why schools should become digital schools and what digital schools have achieved. The stages involved in becoming a digital school are also outlined. The presentation will examine how schools ICT planning will have relevance to both primary and secondary level schools going forward.
