The Fís Project

Presented by:
John Heffernan

FÍS (literally translated as ‘Vision’) is an initiative of the Department of Education and Science designed to introduce the medium of film as a support to the Primary School Curriculum. The Project is managed and delivered by the National Centre for Technology in Education (NCTE) in collaboration with Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art Design and Technology (IADT). It has the full support and active participation of the Department of Education and Science. FÍS is seen by teachers and principals as an exciting and effective way of exploring the child-centred principles of the primary curriculum. The FÍS methodology enables children to develop their creativity in many different areas and involves active participation of the school, parents and local communities. The FÍS Resource Pack is now available online on the FÍS website, www.fis.ie.
