Choosing and Using Interactive Whiteboards
In what ways are Interactive Whiteboards different from a White-painted Wall? This presentation will look at the impact of Interactive Whiteboards (IWs) in the classroom. Different IW types will be examined: the range will cover IW Solutions, membrane-types and solid-state types. We will look at the features available (or not!) in the different types. Issues of positioning, of health and safety, and of classroom management will be detailed. Practical demonstrations in the use of IW software will be given, as will demonstrations of other software (for Junior Infants, JC Maths, LC Music, English etc.). We will look at research which attempts to measure the effectiveness of IWs in the classroom. As with any ICT tool, success depends on effective use.
