1. Programme of talks & workshops now online!

If you are waiting to see the complete programme of presentations and workshop prior to registering for conference, wait no further! The programme is now online at www.cesi.ie/conference-2010-programme. We hope you will agree that this year’s conference is shaping up to be one of the best ever.

 

2. Limited spaces available for the Friday PM CESI Meet

Due to the nature of the event, the number of attendees at the Friday evening CESI Meet is limited to 85. As such, if you wish to attend AND have yet to register and pay, you are encouraged to do so immediately. Please note any available spots on the night will be filled on a first come first serve basis based on payment.

4. Update on Conference Accommodation

CESI has been advised that The Heritage Hotel is nearly booked out on the Friday and Saturday of conference. Attendees not able to secure lodging in The Heritage may wish to consider the alternative Portlaoise hotels: The Killeshin Hotel, www.thekilleshin.com or The Maldron, www.maldronhotels.com/hotel-portlaoise

1. Keynote and Capstone Speakers

The conference keynote address will be delivered by Joe Dale, leading practitioner in the area of ICT and modern foreign languages. Joe has inspired countless teachers worldwide to try their hand at using blogs and podcasts to expand their teaching methodologies. Joe's blog, www.joedale.typepad.com, has been nominated for two Edublog Awards in the last there years. Ask anyone who attended Joe Dale’s presentation at CESI Conference 2008 - you will not want to miss this keynote!

Our Capstone Speaker, Conor Galvin, is familiar to many schools ICT enthusiasts here in Ireland and the rest of Europe. Conor is a Lecturer and Researcher at UCD’s School of Education and Lifelong Learning as well as recent chairperson of CESI. A member of the Minister's Strategy Group on education ICT, Conor does not hesitate to ask the hard questions of both policy makers and teachers!

 

2. 30+ Presentations and Workshops

Between the Friday evening CESI Meet and the all day Saturday programme, teachers will have over 30 presentations and workshops to choose from. A sample of the topics to be presented include (i) use of the wii & Nintendo DS in maths, literacy, music & PE, (ii) eTwinning, (iii) Google Wave for Education, and (iv) tablet PCs in maths.

 

3. Friday Evening Venue, The Heritage Hotel

The beautiful Portlaoise Heritage Hotel will play host to the Friday evening CESI Meet. It is in walking distance of the train station (3 minute walk) and a 10 minute stroll to Saturday's venue, Portlaoise College.

When booking, be sure to ask for the CESI Conference rate. Single Room: 1 night @ EUR85 Bed & Full Irish Breakfast per night. Double or Twin Room: 1 night @ EUR65 Bed & Full Irish Breakfast per person sharing per night

 

4. Saturday Venue, Portlaoise College

The Saturday day programme will be held at Portlaoise College. This 700 pupil college caters to senior cycle, secondary pupils and also PLC. Featuring five computer rooms with 25 to 35 workstations each, the conference will not be short on rooms for workshops!

6. Meet the Conference Working Group

Who’s behind this year's conference? Teachers just like you, teachers with a keen interest in using ICT to bring about the best in teaching and learning. Year in and year out, a subset of the CESI Executive Committee gives of its time and talents to organise the conference.
