Connect, Create, Integrate: Practitioner-researchers as knowledge creators

Our presentation will explain how practitioner-researchers on a Masters degree programme in eLearning are connecting with each other through emerging technologies in order to create a more dialogic-collaborative approach to learning. We intend to show our commitment to learning through reflection upon and research into our teaching and through integration of technology to enhance its efficacy in terms of enhancing students' learning.

The Digital Hedge School: Collaborative, intergenerational science education

This presentation reports on the initial stages of a project that is developing an online community to support collaborative learning among active retirement groups in the community and local schools. The presentation describes the design concept for the project, that of a digital hedge school, and discusses other projects that have looked at online science inquiry and Web-based intergenerational learning.

Creating your own Digital Content

This presentation will introduce teachers to a number of applications that facilitate the development of customised digital activities. The applications, including Literacy Activity Builder, Numeracy Activity Builder and Contentgenerator downloads are template-driven, easy to use and require minimal expertise. Examples will be presented of teacher-created resources, including matching, cloze, ordering and quiz-type games. This presentation is suitable for both first and second level teachers.

Hermes Thin Client Project and VLE

This presentation will examine the key findings that have emerged from the Hermes Project to date - teachers key skill set, prior infrastructure and usage of technology, overview of Thin Client and project structure. We will also outline the implementation and practical usage of Microsoft Class Server VLE and the future direction of this product under Sharepoint 2007
